Free OCT Scan (Optical Coherence Tomography) | Lanarkshire

Simpson Opticians are able to provide free OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) Scans from our eye clinics in Larkhall & East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.

We have an OCT in both practices which can scan the retina, making it easier to diagnose retinal and macular conditions, ensuring the correct referrals and treatment. This instrument is also beneficial in detecting Glaucoma, even before the pressure or Visual Fields indicate it.

There is no charge for an OCT Scan at Simpson Opticians, it’s part of your eye examination. Most other Opticians, who offer OCT Scans, charge £20 for a scan.

An OCT Scan is great at confirming that your eyes are healthy and can be repeated over time for comparison. This makes it particularly useful for detecting potentially sight threatening conditions that generally don’t have any symptoms until they start to have an impact on your vision. These include:

	Glaucoma
	Diabetic Retinopathy
	Detached Retina
	Age-related Macular Degeneration
	Macular Hole

You should not only come for an eye test or examination when you want new spectacles, but make it part of your regular preventative medical check ups.
